Having enjoyed writing since a child, I sat down some ten years ago and decided to have a crack at writing a novel. That novel is still in progress, having been usurped by subsequent ideas, but one day (soon, possibly) it will see the light of day, though maybe not under the pseudonym of Peter Simmons.

The books I have self-published thus far lodged themselves in my consciousness in varying ways and refused to leave until committed to paper (virtual or otherwise). They may not be high literature, but if even one person derives a mote of pleasure from reading one (or all), then the time spent writing them was time well-spent.
